-12 Teams from Across India Participate
Bhubaneswar,swa news : The much-anticipated 2nd JRD Tata Invitational Hockey Tournament 2025 commenced today at the iconic Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar.
The tournament is hosted by the Odisha Naval Tata Hockey High Performance Centre (ONTHHPC), in collaboration with the Department of Sports & Youth Services, Government of Odisha, and Hockey India.
Organized to commemorate the 121st birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna JRD Tata on July 29—a luminary of Indian industry and former chairman of Tata Steel—this event brings together twelve elite men’s teams and four top women’s teams, representing leading High-Performance Centres and academies from across India.
The opening ceremony was graced by eminent guests, including Shri Sanatana Sahoo, General Secretary, Hockey Association of Odisha, along with senior coaches, dignitaries and former international players.
The women’s teams include ONTH-HPC, State Secretariat, Sports Hostel Panposh, and CRPF Jalandhar. In the men’s competition, teams are divided into two pools: Pool A consists of CRPF Jalandhar, Sports Hostel Panposh, Odisha Junior, and I.O.B Chennai, while Pool B features Indian Navy, ONTH-HPC, Indian Bank, and Bhubaneswar XI.
The tournament features an exciting league-cum-knockout format. League matches will run from July 24 to July 26, followed by the semi-finals on July 28 and the grand finale on July 29. The opening ceremony was celebrated by various dignitaries.
This vibrant event is open to the public, extending a warm invitation to all hockey enthusiasts to witness the thrilling matches. The Grand Finale will be streamed online, with live updates, fixtures, and match highlights available via ONTHHPC’s social media handles.
