Vedanta Aluminium organises Grappling Training Camp for budding martial artists in Jharsuguda

Jharsuguda, Odisha,June 18, 2025: Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of aluminium, organized a two-day Grappling Training Camp at the Vedanta Martial Arts Training Centre in Jharsuguda, drawing participation from over 50 enthusiastic young martial artists. The camp was led by Mr. Arko Dasgupta,Technical Director, Grappling Committee of India and a seasoned grappling trainer.

Launched this year, the Vedanta Martial Arts Training Centre alreadycomprises over 100 students, providing access to professional coaching services and a systematictraining environment to help them master techniques. Envisioned as a dedicated training hub for martial arts, with a focus on disciplines such as karate and judo, the centre continues to serve as a vibrant platform for nurturing discipline, resilience, and physical fitness among local youth in the region.

The special training camp focused on imparting the fundamentals of grappling to the young students, emphasizing the need for discipline, focus, and technical excellence. Over two days, participants engaged in rigorous sessions designed to enhance both their physical endurance and mental agility through structured martial arts practice.

Sharing his views on the initiative,Sunil Gupta, Chief Operating Officer, Vedanta Aluminium said: “At Vedanta, we believe in the holistic and all-round development of youth – academically, physically, and emotionally.Providing training in different form of sports is an excellent way to build confidence, discipline, and resilience among the next generation, values that will help them excel in any sphere.The passion and determination demonstrated by the young learners at the training camp is a sign of the successful outcome of such initiatives.”

Sharing her experience at the camp, young Riya Das said:“This camp was a great learning experience, and it was enjoyable to practice alongside my peers. I picked up several new techniques and gained a lot of confidence. Being trained by a national-level expert was also a very inspiring experience. I hope to keep training and one day represent my state in this sport.”

The camp concluded with an interactive valedictory session attended by senior staffmembers from Vedanta Jharsuguda. They applauded the young participants for their dedication and encouraged them to continue their journey in martial arts.All of the participants were awarded certificates of recognition for their commitment and active involvement throughout the training.
