Bhubaneswar:swa news : KiiT International School celebrated its 19th Foundation Day with a vibrant ceremony marked by the oath-taking of the newly elected Student Cabinet and an inspiring address by renowned journalist, neurodiversity advocate, and author Mugdha Kalra.
The event began with the formal installation of the student leadership team. The newly elected student body took an oath to uphold the values of the school, lead by example, and work towards the holistic development of their peers. The ceremony underscored the school’s commitment to nurturing leadership qualities and civic responsibility among its students.
Chief guest Mugdha Kalra, known for her advocacy of neurodiversity, lauded KIIT International School for its inclusive ethos. “I have been to a lot of campuses, but this is a campus I am proud to come to—whether it’s the infrastructure or the environment. Come to metros and see how difficult it is to even have a playground,” she said, praising the school’s spacious, student-friendly facilities.
Kalra particularly highlighted the school’s commitment to inclusion, noting: “Here, special children and mainstream students take classes together, and I think KIIT is creating that environment for you.” She urged students to appreciate and strengthen such inclusive practices that build empathy and social awareness.

“The struggle is more at the human level—the constant comparison with peers,” she observed, advising students to stay grounded. She encouraged them to keep themselves fit, stay connected with family and friends, remain focused, and pursue their passions with dedication. “Study smart,” she concluded, leaving the audience with a practical mantra for success in an increasingly competitive world.
Advising students Dr. Mona Lisa Bal, Chairperson, KiiT IS said, don’t be afraid to be different; don’t be afraid to ask “why not?” and don’t be afraid if your idea seems strange — because strange ideas change the world. She also advised to think better, feel deeper, and lead bolder, always help someone in need.
In his message Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS, congratulated all the staff and student of KiiT International School and wished a successful event. Saswati Bal, President, KIIT & KISS; Dr Sanjay Suar, Principal, KiiT International School also spoke on the occasion.
