Bhubaneswar;swa news : Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of aluminium, observedWorld Heart Day 2025 with impactful initiatives across its Jharsuguda and Lanjigarh operations, aligned to the global theme “Don’t Miss a Beat.” The programmes focussed on raising awareness on cardiovascular diseases (CVD), a leading cause of premature mortality worldwide, and strengthening preparedness through health screenings, preventive counselling, and distribution of life-saving emergency response kits.

At Lanjigarh, the company’s alumina refinery, the Occupational Health Centre organised a detailed awareness session on cardiovascular disorders, covering early symptoms of heart attacks, associated risks, and preventive strategies. The highlight was the launch of the Loading Dose Kit, an emergency first-aid response kit for suspected heart attacks. Over 100 kits were distributed during the session, with plans to roll out an additional 900 kits in the coming months alongside expanded awareness drives which will expand preparedness across the workforce. The session saw the participation of employees and the senior leadership team.

At Jharsuguda, home to Vedanta Aluminium’s mega aluminium smelter, a series of awareness sessions and health check-ups were conducted across five villages — Banjari, Chithuapada, Dalki, Shivrampur, and Sunarimunda. Led by medical experts, the campaign featured interactive discussions on CVD prevention, the importance of regular check-ups, and lifestyle modifications, followed by on-site screenings. Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials were also distributed, with the outreach benefiting more than 300 villagers.

Commenting on this, Rajiv Kumar, CEO of Vedanta Aluminium, said, “At Vedanta Aluminium, we see a thriving workforce and healthy neighbourhoods as the foundation of sustainable growth. Through year-round healthcare initiatives, from preventive screenings and awareness drives to life-saving emergency preparedness, we aim to create lasting impact on the ground. The World Heart Day initiatives build on Vedanta Aluminium’s larger healthcare ecosystem, which delivers accessible, quality care to some of India’s most underserved communities. In addition, a fleet of Mobile Health Units brings consultations, diagnostics, and medicines directly to people’s doorsteps, while community outreach programmes range from mega health camps and cataract surgeries to awareness drives on maternal and child health, HIV/AIDS, TB, cancer, and chronic diseases.
