Launch of Project “Training on Wheels” under Safety Vertical

Bhubaneswar, swa news : Odisha Discoms began a new chapter in Odisha today with the unveiling of Odisha 2.0, an umbrella initiative dedicated to holistic development and employee well-being under the guiding theme “Care Beyond Power – Because People Matter.”

Hon’ble Deputy CM Shri Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo flagged off the Project “Training on Wheels” under Odisha 2.0 at the Power Distribution Technology Centre, Bhubaneswar, in the presence of Shri Sidhant Mohapatra, MLA Digapahandi, Shri Akash Das Nayak, MLA Korei, Actress Ms. Anu Choudhury, Shri Gajanan Kale, Chief Odisha Distribution Business & CEO, TPNODL and Shri Arvind Singh, CEO, TPCODL.

Odisha 2.0 unites a range of people-focused projects, including Training on Wheels, State-of-art Office Infra, Employee Connect, Touching Lives of Business Associates, Door-Step Medical Facilities and Sports at the grassroots level. Each of these projects is carefully designed to strengthen the Discoms’ commitment to building safer, healthier and more connected communities throughout Odisha.

As the first initiative under Odisha 2.0, Project Training on Wheels was formally launched on 6th October 2025 at the Power Distribution Technology Centre, Bhubaneswar by Odisha Discoms in collaboration with TPSDI. The project has been conceptualized to take training infrastructure to the door-steps of employees at Fuse Call Centres (FCCs) and PSS locations across Odisha’s vast 1.54 lakh sq. kms service area, covering 743 Sections, thereby ensuring that quality training reaches even the remotest corners of the state.

The project will deliver training modules on Electrical Safety, Behavioural Safety, Essential Safety Practices, Technical Training, Safety While Working at Height and First Aid & Emergency Management. Through this initiative, Odisha Discoms expect to significantly improve safety awareness and compliance, encourage better adoption of safety and technical standards and enhance accessibility of training across remote geographies.

“This initiative of ‘Training on Wheels’ will go a long way to enhance the technical skills of our people in the field. The effort taken by Odisha Discoms is truly commendable and I wish the team all the very best for this initiative,” said Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister Shri Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo.

 “This year, as all four Odisha Discoms complete five years in the state, we have achieved many milestones during this period. Now, we are looking forward to Odisha 2.0 — the next phase of transformation. The ‘Training on Wheels’ initiative is a part of this transformation program. Our aim is to reach as many people as possible at the grassroots level, including linemen and helpers, to train them effectively,” stated Shri Gajanan Kale, Chief, Odisha Power Distribution Business and CEO, TPNODL.

Speaking at the launch, Mr. Arvind Singh, CEO of TPCODL and Project Mentor of Training on Wheels, said, “Odisha 2.0 reflects our belief that true progress lies in caring for our people as much as in powering the state. Training on Wheels is a unique step to make safety and technical learning accessible to every corner of Odisha. Focused on practical safety and technical modules, this initiative will help create a culture of safety that is sustainable and impactful.”
