Vedanta Aluminium Partners with NDRF for Emergency Response Mock Drill at Jharsuguda

Jharsuguda, swa news : Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of aluminium,conducted a Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) mock drill at its mega aluminium plant in Jharsuguda. Organised in collaboration with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), the initiative aimed to assess on-ground readiness and further strengthen emergency response mechanisms across the world’s largest aluminium plant.

The simulated exercise recreated a scenario involving a mock fire situation at one of the operational units, where joint teams from Vedanta, NDRF, local fire services, and district administration worked together to contain the situation swiftly and safely. The drill also included timely evacuation exercises, first-aid response, and rescue operations to ensure every participating team understood their roles and responsibilities during a real emergency.

The drill was conducted as part of Vedanta Aluminium’s continuous efforts to enhance safety at its operations, focusing on effective and rapid response mechanisms during industrial emergencies such as fire incidents, chemical leakages, or uncontrolledemissions. It sought to evaluate real-time coordination, communication efficiency, and readiness of Vedanta’s emergency response teams alongside national and local authorities.

Archana Das, Assistant Director of Factories and Boilers;Mrityunjay Sabar, Assistant Collector and District Emergency Officer;and Tirthabasi Sahoo, Commandant, NDRF, appreciated Vedanta Aluminium’s efforts in organizing the comprehensive mock drill and lauded the company’s dedication to maintaining high safety standards and preparedness for any unforeseen situation.
