Balasore, swa news : TP Northern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPNODL) has been recognized as a leading power distribution company at the national level in the recently released 14th Integrated Rating and Ranking Report of 2025, published by the Ministry of Power, Government of India. TPNODL has been awarded an impressive A+ rating with a score of 94.77 among 54 power distribution companies nationwide and is ranked first in Odisha and ninth in the country.

Since taking over electricity distribution for the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Jajpur, TPNODL has improved power supply services across North Odisha by introducing modern and cutting-edge technology in the distribution sector. Over the last five years, TPNODL has undertaken wide-ranging operational and commercial transformations, strengthening safety, network reliability and improving the customer service experience across the region. The aggregate technical and commercial (AT&C) loss decreased from 25.17% in April 2021 to 12.64% at the end of FY25, while over 5,500 cKm of new 11 kV lines have been added. Additionally, 635 cKm of 33 kV lines and 2,662 cKm of LT lines have been added, with significant improvements in SAIDI and SAIFI metrics.

To address consumer needs and interests, over 9,700 DTRs and 78 new PTRs have been installed. Furthermore, the primary substations are now remotely operated from a centralized state-of-the-art Power System Control Center (PSCC) through ‘SCADA’ technology. New systems such as underground power cables, ring main units, fault passage indicators, auto reclosers, trolley-mounted DTRs, underground cable fault locator systems and drone-based thermography have safeguarded improved quality and reliable electricity services in the region. The continued improvement in billing efficiency, particularly in LT billing, and the reduction in provisional billing to less than 1% have significantly contributed to enhanced consumer satisfaction. Notably, electricity substations and transformers, previously operating under hazardous conditions, have also been upgraded. To prevent contact with stray animals or children, most transformers are now enclosed with a solid wall or strong wire mesh.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Gajanan Kale, Chief – Odisha Distribution Business and CEO of TPNODL, stated that TPNODL has implemented significant reforms to enhance power service quality and safety for consumers. This achievement is a testament to the unwavering commitment and diligent efforts of its employees and business associates, complemented by the steadfast support of its stakeholders, in providing quality power services to consumers, he added.

TPNODL remains committed to continuing its efforts in transforming the power distribution landscape in North Odisha, prioritizing consumer satisfaction, safety, and operational excellence, and reinforcing its position as a leader in the power distribution sector in the country.
