In a significant step towards promoting renewable energy and sustainable development, the Hon’ble Governor of Odisha, Shri Hari Babu Kambhampati, inaugurated a 485 kWp Rooftop Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Power Plant at Lok Bhavan, Bhubaneswar, developed and executed by NBCC (India) Limited. The inauguration was held in the presence of Dr. K. P. Mahadevaswamy, CMD, NBCC and Shri J.P. Guru, SBG, Odisha, NBCC
The solar project, spread across approximately 39,000 sq. ft. within the Lok Bhavan campus, has been installed across eight locations including the Governor House Building, Administrative Building, Abhishek Banquet Hall, Energy Park and etc.. Equipped with advanced solar technology, the installation is expected to generate nearly 60,000 units of clean electricity every month, significantly reducing conventional energy consumption and carbon emissions. Keeping in mind the current energy shortage owing west Asia conflict, the need to promote renewable energy usage is of great significance. EV vehicles can also be charged owing to the installation of the solar plant. NBCC stands committed to working in promoting usage of renewable energy and shall also be working on wind energy generation as a part of its endeavour to boost India’s energy security.
The project reflects NBCC’s commitment to supporting India’s clean energy transition and creating environmentally sustainable public infrastructure. The initiative is expected to contribute substantially towards reducing the carbon footprint of the Lok Bhavan complex while serving as a model for renewable energy adoption in government establishments.
