Bhubaneswar:swa news : As the much-awaited Raksha Bandhan festival draws near, TP Central Odisha Distribution Limited (TPCODL), a joint venture of Tata Power and the Government of Odisha, is spreading joy beyond power supply through its flagship CSR initiative Samridhi.
Focused on women empowerment and cultural preservation, TPCODL is supporting rural women artisans in crafting eco-friendly Rakhis using Odisha’s traditional art forms like Pattachitra, Dhokra and Palm Leaf. These intricately handmade Rakhis blend heritage with sustainability and are produced by local artisans of the Balianta art cluster of Khordha District and Saptasajya heritage village of Dhenkanal District.
Through training, capacity-building, and market linkage support, TPCODL is helping over 300 women artisans gain economic independence. This initiative not only promotes entrepreneurship among rural women but also revives and sustains age-old art and craft practices of Odisha.
A special stall was installed at IDCO Towers, Bhubaneswar, to showcase the Rakhis prepared by the artisans. Hundreds of people visited the stall and admired these beautifully handcrafted Rakhis, supporting both tradition and empowerment.
The eco-friendly Rakhis are being marketed through exhibitions, local stalls and online platforms, offering consumers a chance to celebrate Raksha Bandhan with purpose. Each Rakhi not only symbolizes the timeless bond of love between brothers and sisters but also tells a story of tradition, craftsmanship and empowerment.
Samridhi reflects TPCODL’s deeper commitment to inclusive development, environmental responsibility and cultural revival. By supporting such grassroots initiatives, the company is fostering a brighter, more equitable future for communities across Odisha.
This Raksha Bandhan, TPCODL urges everyone to tie a thread of tradition, empowerment, and sustainability — and celebrate the beautiful bond of sibling love with every handcrafted Rakhi made under the Samridhi initiative.
