PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana Achieves Remarkable Success

Balasore swa news : Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana has achieved significant success, with over 3,000 consumers benefiting from zero-unit bills and substantial reductions in their electricity bills. This centrally and state-government-subsidized scheme has accelerated rooftop solar energy adoption, providing households in the region with clean, reliable, and affordable electricity.

To date, around 5,000 households have installed rooftop solar panels under the PM Surya Ghar scheme, including the ULA model, in the TPNODL region. Of all consumers receiving electricity bills last month, 3,289 had zero unit billing. Under the ULA model, 895 consumers across Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Keonjhar and Jajpur districts have installed rooftop solar panels. In the previous cycle, 229 households received electricity bills and reported significant reductions, with 194 achieving zero unit billing and 24 experiencing 50–90% reductions. The remaining consumers have seen up to 40% reductions in electricity unit billing.

Mr. Gajanan Kale, Chief – Odisha Distribution Business and CEO of TPNODL, reaffirmed TPNODL’s commitment to providing reliable and quality electricity to consumers. He encouraged consumers to take advantage of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana and the ULA model to reduce their electricity bills while promoting green energy and contributing to Odisha’s sustainable development.

Pratyusharjan Mohanty, a beneficiary from Ghantiadi, Baliapal block, reported that the installation of a 1-kilowatt solar panel in his house has resulted in zero electricity bills for the past two months. The scheme has provided significant benefits to him and his family.

Consumers can now install a 1-kilowatt rooftop solar system under the ULA model for ₹5,622, making it a cost-effective way to lower electricity bills. The central and state governments provide a combined subsidy of ₹55,000 to support consumers. TPNODL invites consumers to benefit from this scheme and enjoy clean, affordable electricity.
