Tata Group Explores Logistics Strategy with Dhamra Port by docking their first Iron Ore Cape Size vessel

Dhamra, 28.03.2026: Senior Leadership of Tata Group today visited Dhamra Port to have a strategic development logistic solution. The Team welcome their 1st ever Cape‑Size import iron ore vessel, MV ENNA which is berthed at this deep draft Sea Port, Dhamra.  This new beginning of imported iron ore cargo not only strengthening the current partnership business with Dhamra Port but also visualizing long term association with this Port for future strategic development. This type of import iron ore vessel can only be handled by this deep draft Dhamra Port on the east coast. After seen the Infrastructure Upgradation, Port Modernization, present facilities, the Senior leadership team of Tata Steel has fully confident on Dhamra Port to handle this kind of large cargo parcel.

The senior delegates of TATA STEEL visited the Port’s project sites and review ongoing and upcoming port projects underscores the strategic alignment between the two organizations. The discussions around capacity augmentation, infrastructure modernization, and long-term growth planning indicate a shared vision for building a resilient, efficient, and future-ready maritime logistics ecosystem. Dhamra Port’s expansion is strategically aligned to support Tata Steel’s upcoming expansion plans by ensuring seamless, efficient, and scalable logistics solutions. DPCL Port expansion is ahead of steel plant expansion which helps all steel plants across it’s hinterland to be aligned with their plant expansion. Tata Steel has had a long-standing association with Dhamra Port for the handling of coal, flux, slag, steel, and limestone. Recently, DPCL has successfully discharge of 30000 MT in limestone just 24 hours at Berth BB‑3A from the vessel MV Rixta Oldendorff. Which reflects it’s modern infrastructure, consistent productivity and seamless coordination. 

In this connection, today’s bearting of Cape‑Size import iron ore vessel, MV ENNA, carrying 151,773 metric tonnes of iron ore for its esteemed client Tata Steel indicates a landmark achievement marks a significant milestone in Dhamra Port’s journey towards operational excellence and enhanced cargo handling capabilities and testament to DPCL’s unwavering focus on performance, reliability, and customer‑centric growth.

The successful handling of a Cape‑Size vessel reflects Dhamra Port’s growing capability to accommodate large vessels and manage high‑volume bulk cargo efficiently, reinforcing its strategic importance for India’s steel and mining sectors.
