Bhubaneswar, swa news : TP Central Odisha Distribution Limited (TPCODL), a joint venture of Tata Power and Government of Odisha has reinforced its Zero Harm commitment by reaching out to communities across Central Odisha with large-scale electrical safety awareness initiatives during the year. More than one lakh people, including villagers, school students and electricity consumers, were engaged through structured sessions and on-ground outreach programmes.
Alongside community engagement, focused safety training was conducted for the company employees and Business Associate (BA) personnel across operational areas, strengthening safe work practices and reinforcing a culture of responsibility in day-to-day power distribution activities.
To take safety awareness beyond classrooms and training halls, the initiative is delivered through a robust institutional framework comprising a Management Development Centre (MDC), 5 Skill Development Centres and 13 Divisional Safety Training Centres, complemented by mobile platforms such as ‘Training on Wheels’ and the ‘Surakhya Sachetan Rath’ to reach remote and underserved communities.
These initiatives are anchored in a Zero Harm philosophy that seeks to eliminate risks to people, animals and property, embedding safety as a non-negotiable element of power distribution operations.
The training modules focus on building competence and confidence through hands-on learning in electrical safety, technical and behavioural skills and ethics. Delivered in half-day to two-day sessions by experienced trainers and subject matter experts, the programmes reinforce best-in-class safety practices, especially in consumer-facing roles.
In recognition of this sustained commitment, the company was awarded the Gold Trophy by the World Safety Organization and the Kalinga Safety Excellence National Premium Award 2025 by the Institute of Quality and Environment Management Services (IQEMS).
Speaking on the company’s sustained focus on safety, Arvind Singh, CEO, TPCODL, said, “TPCODL continues to build a workforce that is informed, responsible and safety-conscious. By strengthening employee capabilities through world-class training practices and discipline, we reinforce our core promise of protecting both our people and our consumers, while advancing our Zero Harm commitment.”
Through these comprehensive initiatives, TPCODL continues to set benchmarks in safety excellence, ensuring reliable power distribution while prioritising the well-being of communities it serves.
