Vedanta Aluminium Observes 55th National Safety Monthat Jharsuguda

Jharsuguda,March 18, 2026:Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminium producer, is observing55th National Safety Month at its mega aluminium plantinJharsuguda through a series of structured andengaging initiatives aimed at strengthening workplace safety and reinforcing a culture of shared responsibility.

Aligned with this year’s theme, “Educate, Engage, and Empower to Enhance Safety,” the month-long campaign emphasizes awareness-building throughenhanced participation, and proactive risk management at all levels of the organization.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior government officials – Mr. Swaroop Jena, Deputy Director, Factories & Boilers (DDFB), and Ms. Archana Das, Assistant Director, Factories & Boilers (ADFB); along with the company employees, and business partners. The programme began with a flag hoisting ceremony, followed by a collective safety pledge that reaffirmedthe company’s philosophy of“Zero Harm”.

Throughout the month, several engaging initiatives have been rolled out such as Suraksha ki Adalat and Kaun Banega Safety Champion, with safety messaging at the core. Additionally, Nukkad Natak & Safety tableaux using visual storytelling shall promote safe practices across operations.Together, these platforms are designed to encourage open dialogue, strengthen accountability, and improve understanding of safety practices through practical and interactive formats.

Reflecting on the impact of the initiatives, Mr. C Chandru, CEO – Vedanta Jharsuguda, said, “At Vedanta Jharsuguda, safety is a core value that guides every aspect of our operations. At the inaugural, Mr. Swaroop Jena, DDFB, said: “Safety in industrial operations emerge from translating intent into action. This requires consistent awareness, strong systems, and active participation from every individual. The efforts undertaken by Vedanta Aluminium help build an industrial ecosystem where safety is practiced and promoted at every step.”

Ms. Archana Das, ADFB,addressing the inaugural session, said: “Safety is a shared responsibility that must guide every action we take. This can be achieved through building awareness, strengthening systems, and encouraging universal participation. I commend Vedanta Aluminium on making consistent efforts to create a workplace where everyone returns home safe, every day.”

Vedanta Jharsuguda continues to strengthen its comprehensive safety ecosystem through technology-led interventions and structured trainingprograms. Smart safetyinitiatives such as fatigue monitoring systems, intelligent interlocking, and AI-enabled surveillance are being leveraged to improve hazard identification and reduce risk exposure.In FY26 alone, over 6,90,000training hours have been completed, along with45,000critical risk assessments, reflecting a proactive safety culture.

Extending its efforts beyond the plant, Vedanta Jharsuguda also conducts frequent community outreach programs on road safety, fire safety, and preventive healthcare, benefitingmore than10,000individuals in the plant vicinity. Throughthe ongoing National Safety Month initiatives, the company continues to reinforce its commitment to building a safe, aware, and responsible workplace.
