Bhubaneswar,swa news : As part of the annual SISIR SARAS–2026 fair being held at the IDCO Exhibition Ground in Bhubaneswar, theme-based workshops are being organized every day with the objective of strengthening the rural economy. On the fourth day of the fair, a workshop titled “Packaging for Market Success: Enhancing Shelf Life of Rural Products, Branding and Strengthening Competitiveness” was organized.
The workshop was conducted by ORMAS with technical support from the Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP), Mumbai. Experts from IIP, Dr. Baburao Guduri and Dr. Subodh Jaikar, addressed the participants and highlighted that scientific and innovative packaging methods help in increasing product shelf life, improving safety, building attractive brand identity, and enhancing consumer appeal.
Self-help groups, producer groups, rural entrepreneurs, and other stakeholders from various districts actively participated in the sessions. The experts shared insights on modern packaging techniques, use of cost-effective and labour-intensive materials, labeling standards, and preparation of market-oriented products.
The primary objective of the workshop was to enhance the marketing capacity of rural producers and make rural products competitive at the state and national levels, thereby strengthening livelihoods and the rural economy.
