Balasore, swa news : In a significant step towards enhancing power reliability and resilience in storm-prone areas, TP Northern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPNODL) has undertaken a major infrastructure upgrade in Balasore town, aiming to make it ‘trip-free’ and minimize outages, especially during Kalbaishakhi storms.

The initiative, implemented under the State Disaster Mitigation Fund (SDMF) scheme, focuses on safeguarding power infrastructure from natural disruptions while ensuring uninterrupted electricity supply to consumers.

As part of this project, 9.6 km of 33 kV and 4.9 km of 11 kV underground cables have been laid from the Primary Substation (PSS) to the grid. In addition, TPNODL has installed two 33 kV Ring Main Units (RMUs) and five 11 kV RMUs—critical components that enhance system flexibility, enable faster fault isolation, and reduce downtime during power failures.

This upgraded setup also supports the N-1 contingency procedure, a globally recognized standard in power systems that ensures continuous electricity supply even if one major component fails. By integrating overhead and underground cabling, TPNODL is not only enhancing supply reliability but also strengthening the overall resilience of the power network.

TPNODL remains committed to ensuring high quality, uninterrupted power supply to its consumers. With ongoing investments in advanced infrastructure and disaster-ready systems, the company continues to prioritize safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction across its distribution areas.
