Bhubaneswar,swa news : BALCO Medical Centre organized a Bike Rally as part of the “Sharm Chodho, Gaantho pe Bolo” campaign, aimed at raising awareness about breast cancer and the importance of early detection. Globally observed as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, October is dedicated to educating people on breast cancer’s signs and symptoms, highlighting the life-saving impact of timely diagnosis.
The rally was flagged off at The Marine Drive, Raipur, by Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal ji, Hon’ble Minister of Health and Family Welfare and Minister of Medical Education, Chhattisgarh. In his address, he highlighted the critical need for awareness, saying, “Breast cancer is a serious illness, yet with timely detection and prompt treatment, it can be effectively managed.”
Dr. Bhawna Sirohi, Medical Director at BALCO Medical Centre, added, “In India, one in ten women is likely to develop breast cancer. Lifestyle plays a significant role. If detected early, breast cancer is curable and latest advancements now enable breast-conserving surgeries. The key is awareness and early detection.”
The rally supported by Nava Raipur Atal Nagar Vikash Pradhikaran (NRANVP) and National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), highlighted the need for proactive health measures and aimed to bring attention to breast cancer symptoms, screening, and treatment options. It saw active participation from 10 biker groups, the Indian Army, CRPF, corporates, and members of the community, bringing together over 250 people in solidarity.
The rally concluded at BALCO Medical Centre with a symbolic tree plantation drive in honor of those impacted by breast cancer, representing hope, resilience, and growth for those on their treatment journey.
