Burla/Balangir, swa news : In a significant step towards strengthening the power infrastructure in Western Odisha, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Kanak Vardhan Singh DeoinauguratedTP Western Odisha Distribution Limited’s (TPWODL) newly built 33 kV Turikela–Lathore Link LineatLathore Primary Sub-Station (PSS) under Khaprakhol block under Balangir district on Wednesday.
The DY CM Shri Singh Deo graced the event as Chief Guest, while Balangir MP Smt. Sangita Kumari Singh Deo attended as Guest of Honour. The inaugural ceremony also witnessed the presence of ADM Pabitra Behera, Patnagarh Sub-Collector Sunil Meher, and Sarpanch Sushri Jayashree Bhainsal, along with senior officials of TPWODL and local community members.
Built at a cost of Rs. 5.29 crore, this 18-kilometre-long 33 kV link line connects Turikela PSS with Lathore PSS, providing a crucial alternative power route to the region. The new feeder line has been successfully charged and made fully operational, directly benefitting over11,000 consumersacross Lathore, Malpada, Sahajpani, Bender, Tankapani, Karuajhar, and nearby villages of Khaprakhol block.
Earlier, Lathore PSS relied solely on a 60 km-long feeder line from Patnagarh, often causing voltage drops and frequent interruptions. With the commissioning of this new link line, TPWODL has established “N-1 reliability” — ensuring continuous, stable, and quality power supply even during outages on one feeder line.

Speaking on the occasion, DY CM Shri Singh Deo appreciated TPWODL’s proactive efforts in modernising the rural power network and improving service quality for the people of Western Odisha.
