Nuapada, 08th May 2026: Happiness and celebration filled Khadigrapada, a small hamlet of Kishna Village under Komna Block in Nuapada district, as electricity reached the village and illuminated homes for the first time.

In a significant step towards rural development and inclusive growth, TP Western Odisha Distribution Limited (TPWODL), with support from the State Government, successfully extended electricity supply to the remote hamlet by laying a 1.15-km low-tension line within just one month. The total project cost is around Rs. 16 lakhs. At present, eight households, which recently received homes under the PM Awas Yojana, have been electrified under the project.

The electrification work was officially inaugurated today by Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha, Kalahandi, Smt. Malvika Devi, in the presence of Hon’ble MLA, Nuapada, Shri Jay Dholkia.

The occasion turned emotional as electric bulbs glowed inside the homes, bringing visible joy among villagers. For the residents, electricity is not just a utility service but the beginning of a better and safer life. Children can now continue their studies after sunset, families feel more secure during the night, and the village has taken its first step towards modern connectivity and development.

Speaking on the occasion, the Hon’ble MP appreciated TPWODL’s commitment and timely execution of the project. She expressed satisfaction over the successful electrification of the hamlet and conveyed her gratitude to the CEO and the entire TPWODL team for bringing electricity to the Pada.

Villagers also expressed their happiness and relief, calling the development the fulfilment of a long-awaited dream. “This is a new life for us,” said one resident, reflecting the emotions shared by the entire community.

With electricity now becoming a reality in Khadigrapada, the hamlet is expected to witness positive transformation through improved education opportunities, better healthcare access and enhanced livelihood prospects for local residents.
