Vedanta Aluminium Fosters Festive Bonds Through Community Celebrations during Diwali

Jharsuguda, swa news : Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of aluminium, brought festive cheer to the community this Diwali through a heartwarming celebration that united employees, women entrepreneurs and children through its developmental initiatives in Jharsuguda. As part of celebrations around the festive season, Vedanta Aluminium organized Diya Painting Workshops in collaboration with the members of Subhalaxmi Cooperative and the young students of Nand Ghar, underscoring its commitment to fostering strong community bonds.

Subhalaxmi Cooperative is one of Odisha’s largest Self Help Group (SHG) cooperatives today with over 5000 members, providing rural women with opportunities for building sustainable livelihoodsby supporting aspiring women entrepreneurs with micro-finance, skill development, financial literacy and market linkages. Vedanta Nand Ghar is the company’s flagship community development program, focused on creating modernized anganwadis as hubs of women and child development. Over 175 Nand Ghars are already in operation across Jharsuguda, with a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the District Administration to create 500 more.

The diyas used in the workshop were handcrafted by terracotta artisans under Vedanta’s livelihood initiative, VedMurtika. These lamps were then artistically painted and decorated by Vedanta employee volunteers, women from Subhalaxmi Cooperativeand children from Vedanta Nand Ghar.Over 30 employee volunteers joined hands with the community members to paint more than 200 diyas. The initiative beautifully symbolized Vedanta Aluminium’s belief in lighting liveswithin and beyond the organization.
