Vedanta Jharsuguda Observes National Cancer Awareness Daywith Community Outreach Initiatives

Jharsuguda, swa news : Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of aluminium, observed National Cancer Awareness Day (November 7)by organizing a community outreach awareness session at Women’s College, Jharsuguda as part of its continued commitment to strengthening public health and wellbeing in the region. The session focused on equipping young women with essential knowledge of early detection, healthy lifestyles and support services.

Cancer remains one of the leading health challenges globally and in India, withmany patients reaching advanced stages due to delayed diagnosis and lack of awareness. The disease affects individuals and families not only physically, but also emotionally and financially. However, researchers indicate that early detection greatly increases the chances of successful treatment. Awareness, timely screening, and understanding early symptoms play a crucial role in saving lives. As such, grassroots educationremains one of the most effective ways to combat the disease.

The session featured medical experts who interacted closely with the students, discussing a range of important topics which included discussions on common risk factors such as tobacco use, unhealthy diets, prolonged stress and genetic predisposition. It sought to helpparticipants recognize the early signs of commonly occurring cancers and the importance of regular health check-ups. The students participated actively, asking questions, sharing their own personal experiences and reflecting on the need to prioritize health.

This empowered uswith greater clarity and reassurance, transforming what is often perceived as anuncertain topic into one grounded in knowledge, confidence, and proactive wellbeing.”
