Bhubaneswar, April 14: TheOdia New Year was celebrated at the KIIT campus by the 30 qualifyingcontestants of the 61st Femina Miss India competition, immersing themselves intraditional Odia fervour.
Dressed in Odisha’s famoustraditional patta silk sarees, they enjoyed authentic Odia cuisine along withthe state’s traditional sweet delicacy chhena poda. Relishing the traditionalOdia-style food, they appreciated the rich culture and heritage of Odisha. Theyalso expressed their commitment to promoting Odisha’s glorious culture andtraditions across the country.
The 30 state winners, who havequalified for the 61st Femina Miss India event scheduled to be held at KIIT onApril 18, are currently staying on the KIIT campus. Femina Miss India 2024 NikitaPorwal also joined them during the celebrations.
In collaboration with theOdisha Tourism Department, the event is being held with the active support ofDr Achyuta Samanta, founder of KIIT and KISS, aimed at promoting Odisha’s art,culture, and heritage.
The Femina Miss Indiacompetition is one of the most prestigious beauty pageants in India, withvarious states competing to host it. It is a great honour that this event is being held in Odisha for the first time. The platform is being utilized towidely promote the state’s rich cultural heritage.
The contestants in the comingdays will visit Puri, the Konark Sun Temple, and Chandrabhaga Beach toexperience Odisha’s rich cultural legacy. They will also participate inheritage walks at Puri Beach and the Mukteshwar Temple.
