Rayagada : Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminium producer, extended its Mobile Health Unit (MHU) services in areas surrounding the Sijimali mines inRayagada and Kalahandi districts of Odisha.Through this initiative, the company aims to provide doorstep essential and quality healthcare servicesto the communities, thereby improving healthcare access in remote villages. The MHU services will reach out to over 10,000 individuals across 40 villages in the vicinity of Sijimali mines. Vedanta Aluminium’s MHU services reach out to around 2 lakh people in more than 100 villages across Odisha.
The Mobile Health Unit (MHU) is a specialized van featuring crucial medical equipment and medicines, along with medical staff comprising a qualified and experienced doctor, nurse, lab technician and a pharmacist. Itoffers a range of services including check-ups, blood sugar tests, and provision of free medicines. These efforts not only address immediate healthcare needs but also provide preventive care through regular awareness sessions, bolstering overall community well-being.
Mr. Nitish Jha, Medical Officer In-charge,Thuamul Rampur village, said, “I appreciate Vedanta’s proactive role in community development in remote areas. By fulfilling the healthcare needs of the residents, they have taken a significant step towards creating a future that is not only brighter but healthier, making sure that every individual has access to basic medical care.”
